Can you quit the air force during basic training?

You can not quit or drop out of Air Force Basic Military Training (BMT) after you have sworn in and your contract is signed. If you are worried about whether you can quit, then you need to spend some more time on your decision to enlist in the military or not.

Can you be discharged during basic training?

If a member of the armed forces was discharged during basic training for medical reasons, they are still considered a veteran for Federal student aid purposes so long as they served at least one day before being discharged. To be considered a veteran, the student must have been released from active duty.

How do I request an ELS?

Unfortunately, you cannot directly request an ELS, but you can present your problems to the command so that the process will be initiated. A first step in approaching the command can be for you to tell your problems to a chaplain and try to get a referral to the base counseling center.

Can you voluntarily separate from the Air Force?

The Air Force stresses that no involuntary measures are being considered in fiscal 2021. Airmen who are eligible for the active-duty service commitment waivers would be able to retire no later than Sept. 1, or separate no later than Sept. 29.
