Can you run races shirtless?

RACE SHIRT DO feel free to wear it on race day for something like a Halloween run or a Pink event. DON’T wear race shirts from races you didn’t run. DO race a marathon shirtless if it’s hot and it makes you feel great. DON’T worry about what anyone else is wearing, you’ve got enough to focus on.

Is it OK for guys to run shirtless?

It’s fine if you have to. I’m skinny as a twig, and I used to run with some of my more well built friends during cross-country shirtless. If it’s 70 degrees out, or even if you’re sweating a lot, you can certainly run without a shirt.

Second, if everyone is in singlets, nobody’s getting an unfair advantage. Just as everyone has to wear shorts, everyone should have to wear something up top.

Don’t wear too much or cotton gear. I’ve made the mistake of running in more clothing (and my first marathon was in a cotton shirt!) and the result is that the layers get saturated with sweat which then gives you a chill instead of keeping you dry. Stick with the shorts and short sleeves.
