The stiffest charge, missing movement, carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison and a dishonorable discharge.

Does Canada have compulsory military service?
No, Canada does not have compulsory military service. Conscription, as it was known, was introduced briefly in Canada in both WWI and WWII to address overwhelming manpower shortages as Canada had gotten in somewhat over it’s head. Also, the USA no longer uses mandatory military service, having dropped the practice some decades ago.
Who is eligible for military vacation leave in Canada?
Any former service in the Canadian Forces for a continuous period of six months or more, either as a member of the Regular Force or of the Reserve Force while on Class B or C service, will be included in the calculation of vacation leave credits.
What happens when you leave the Canadian Forces?
Canadian Forces members do not receive severance or payment in lieu of severance from the public service when they leave the military, consequently their eligible service is not impacted. There will be no transfer of entitlements or carry-over of accumulated unused vacation leave credits from the Canadian Forces to the core public administration.
