Do colleges like IB Diploma?

Universities appreciate the IB’s rigour and they know it takes hard work and dedication to perform well, particularly in Higher Level (HL) subjects. This is demonstrated by the fact that most US universities award course credits for IB Diploma subjects.

Do colleges accept IB credits?

Most colleges give credit for AP exams and higher-level IB exams, but not all give credit for standard-level IB exams. The IB program doesn’t have a similar database, but you can look up the IB credit policy of any college or university by searching “[School Name] IB credit.”

How can I graduate with IB Diploma?

Specifically, you must score 24 points or more between all your IB exams. If you do this, you will receive your diploma as long as you meet all the following requirements as well: All CAS requirements have been met. There is no “N” awarded for TOK, the Extended Essay, or a contributing subject.

How does IB Diploma work?

Schools offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB Dip) prepare students for university entrance by following the IB programme over the final two years of high school. A minimum of 24 points is required to obtain the IB diploma while 45 points is the maximum.

What classes do you need to take to get an IB?

To receive your IB Diploma, you must take classes from all six categories. Note that you may study an additional science, individuals and societies, or languages course instead of an arts course. You must also complete what is known as the core, which includes an additional class called Theory of Knowledge (TOK).

Should you get an IB Diploma or an IB Certificate?

If you’re interested in taking just a few IB courses, most high schools with IB programs will allow you to do so. If, however, you’d like to more deeply immerse yourself in the IB curriculum and educational philosophy, receiving an IB diploma through the IBDP may be a compelling option for you to consider.

Do you need to take IB to get college credit?

In addition to getting preparation for college, you can get credit for college classes by passing IB exams. Again, you don’t need to complete the full IB diploma in order to earn credit, so if you don’t think you can fit the IB diploma into your schedule, it might still benefit you to take a few individual IB classes.

Why can’t you take IB courses in high school?

You must take IB courses at a certified high school—self-studying is not allowed—which limits the number of students who can participate. The expense and training required to get certified as an IB school can also contribute to its relative rarity at high schools.
