Do I need to floss if I use a water flosser?

Yes. Keep in mind that water flossers are only an adjunct to brushing and flossing. If you only use water flossers and don’t floss you can still get cavities in between your teeth. You need to break the contact between your teeth with floss.

Should you floss or use Waterpik first?

The most effective way to clean your teeth on a daily basis is to combine tooth brushing, flossing and a water flossing device. Dr. Doray recommends that you floss first to scrape off sticky plaque and loosen debris, then Waterpik to flush it away.

Are dental flossers as effective as regular floss?

While this may be convenient, floss picks are not as effective as regular floss. Floss picks do not allow you to reach all the angles that regular floss can so you won’t be able to clean your teeth as effectively. Regular floss is recommended, but floss picks are better than nothing for your oral health.
