Do soldiers get leave during AIT?

Can you leave base during AIT? Leaving base during AIT is not permitted until further into AIT training. During AIT soldiers will be in different phases. For those who have longer AIT times and have gained the privilege, most bases will allow you to request leave to go home on the weekend.

How long after AIT do you get to go home?

What happens after AIT? After Soldiers graduate from their AIT School they are normally granted some leave, often 10 days, before having to check-in to their next unit.

What do you do after AIT in the National Guard?

Once you meet all of the AIT requirements and graduate from AIT, you usually have a short graduation ceremony. This is followed by 10 days of leave before receiving orders to join your unit at your next station of duty. AIT prepares you to become an expert in your MOS.

Can you go home during AIT?

Generally, the only leave you’ll be able to take in AIT will be Emergency Leave. Although, if your AIT is scheduled to go through the Christmas/New Years holiday, you will most likely be granted what is called “Block Leave”. No you cannot take leave until you have completed the course. unless its during the holiday.

Once you’ve finished BCT, life in the military begins. You’ll learn what to do with your paperwork, move into Advanced Individual Training (AIT) and begin studying your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). Upon completion of AIT, you will be MOS Qualified, or MOSQ.

Can your family live with you during AIT?

Soldiers may move household goods and Family members to the location of any Advanced Individual Training (AIT) course that is 20 weeks or more in length.

Can you live with your family while on AIT in the Army?

This means that the Army will pay for the family to move to the AIT location. After a certain time period, the soldier will be allowed to live with his family if he chooses. This generally occurs after making it through the first phase of AIT. If his AIT is less than 20 weeks long, the dependents will generally not be added to his orders.

What happens when you go through AIT for infantry?

My husband went through AIT for infantry and he didn’t have any more freedom during AIT than he had during basic training. For soldiers who attend an AIT of longer than 20 weeks, dependents will often be added to his orders. This means that the Army will pay for the family to move to the AIT location.

What should a soldier bring to AIT?

Soldiers in AIT should bring their military-issued clothing, shaving and hygiene materials, towels and washcloths, and two sets of casual civilian clothing. Personal computers, tablets, cell phones and other electronic devices are authorized for use once a Soldier reaches Tier 1 status. A Soldier should also bring a positive attitude.
