Do you need BJJ for MMA?

A heavy basis to MMA is formed from Muay Thai (striking base) and Jiu-Jitsu (grappling base). Being taught and training in MMA will lead you to learning some Jiu-Jitsu inevitably, as it develops a very strong basis for ground-game. Although it is suggested, you don’t have to learn Jiu-Jitsu before trying for MMA.

Muay Thai basics may be picked up very quickly, but both systems are difficult to truly master without years of hard work and grit. They are both most effective in their respective arenas under their respective rules.
