Does BMP allow transparent background?

Raster file formats that support transparency include GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF, TGA and JPEG 2000, through either a transparent color or an alpha channel. Most vector formats implicitly support transparency because they simply avoid putting any objects at a given point.

Is BMP better than PNG?

BMP files are uncompressed and lossless. They’re large files that retain as much detail as possible. PNG files, on the other hand, are compressed and lossless. Their smaller file size and compression capabilities can make PNGs easier to use.

  1. Then I click Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy the image. Click menu File->New….
  2. In the new document window, I click Ctrl-V and I got this.
  3. As you can see, the image itself was pasted as expected, but the background are all white.
