Does BSF fight in war?

It has various active roles during an outbreak of war. It is the only CAPF to have a full-fledged Water Wing, Air Wing and even an Artillery Regiment of its own. It comes under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Does BSF come under armed forces?

They are not connected with Indian Army except duty sharing is some circumstances. Central Armed Police Forces like BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF and SSB headed by IPS officers which are rank of Director-General (DG). These forces are not headed by military officers and hence not comes under military forces.

Does Indian army have CRPF?

How can I become BSF?

Candidates should have passed class 10th or above from a recognized board or university. Not percentage criteria is needed for constable GD. Height: required for male candidate is 170 cms and for female is 157 cms. Chest: required for males without expansion is 80 cms and with minimum expansion of 5 Cms.

Is BSF and SSB same?

Their role is to defend the national interest mainly against the internal threats. They are the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

What is ITBP camp?

ITBP Commando units provide security to the Embassy and consulates of India in Afghanistan. A National Centre for UNCIVPOL training has been set up at ITBP Camp, Tigri, Khanpur, Delhi for providing systematic training to Indian Police Officers for deployment in UN Mission.
