Does IB require attendance?

No there is no explicit attendance requirement for the IB itself, however there might be such a requirement from your school. For example, my school is pretty strict about unaccounted absences, and if there is no communication from parents, they usually send a note home.

What happens if I miss an IB exam?

If a student does not attend the exam session, they will be marked absent. Student attendance at IB exams is recorded by the IB Coordinator and students who fail to show up for an exam are considered truant from school for that day.

What are the requirements for IB?

In order to receive an IB diploma, candidates must receive a minimum of 24 points or an average of four (or C) out of a possible seven points for six subjects. Candidates must also receive a minimum of 12 points from their Higher Level subjects and a minimum of 9 points from their Standard Level subjects.

Can you quit IB?

Any student can drop out of the IB Program. Once the student decides to drop IB, the student must inform the IB Coordinator and counselor so that the students schedule can be changed to a non-IB schedule by the counselor. Once the student opts out of the IB Program, he/she will not be reinstated.

Does IB cost money?

$200 for each IB course (for exam and mailing fees)

How much do IB exams cost?

Effective November 2019: IB will no longer charge a $172 candidate registration fee. Historically, this flat fee applied to each student registering for IB examinations on top of the per subject fee of $119.

What do you get out of IB?

Upon successfully completing the program and all its requirements, students can earn the IB diploma, which is a significant credential for college applications and other purposes. Academically, the IBDP requires students to take courses and pass exams in six specific subject areas.

How much do IB tests cost?

Each exam generates a fee of $119, and most testing students pay an additional registration fee of $172.00. There is one big Exception to this formula: Full IB Seniors who also tested in their junior year.
