Does MIT require AIME?
Every school has tons of A math students. Fewer than one in ten can have an AIME student. MIT asks you to fill in your AIME score in their application form. They know your A in school math does not mean much.
What is a good score in AMC 12?
High scores on the AMC 10 or 12 can qualify the participant for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). On the AMC 10, the top 2.5\% make it, typically around 100 to 115 points. On the AMC 12, the top 5\% make it, typically around 85 to 95 points.
What percentage of AMC 10 students are invited to the AIME?
For students taking the 2012 AMC 10 contests, we will invite students in the top 2.5\% of all scorers or scorers with at least 120 points (whichever is more inclusive) to the AIME. This differs from the values of 1\% (or 120 points) which have been in effect since 2004.
How do I qualify for the AIME?
All students who took the AMC 12 and achieved a score of 100 or more out of a possible 150 or were in the top 5\% are invited to take the AIME. All students who took the AMC 10 and had a score of 120 or more out of a possible 150, or were in the top 2.5\% also qualify for the AIME.
Do I need standardized tests to apply to MIT?
Standardized tests are required for anyone applying as a first-year student to MIT. However, they are not the only factor, or even the most important factor. When we receive your application, we review all of your academic information—grades, scores, classes, etc.—to ensure that you are prepared for MIT.
Can the SAT/ACT predict success at MIT?
