Does Oxford University accept Edexcel?

All Russell Group universities in the UK (including Oxford and Cambridge) accept Pearson Edexcel International A levels (IAL).

Is Edexcel and Oxford the same?

Pearson Edexcel and CAIE are separate examinations board and none of them are based in Oxford.

Does Oxford prefer 4 A-levels?

5 would be 20 – 25. It is generally accepted that most students (even the best and brightest) would struggle to do 4 with all the extra work required and it is expected that many would drop one or more of them in the second year. No UK college would let you do 5 because the work would be far too much.

How many A-Levels can you take? You can take a maximum of five A-Levels, although most students choose three. Most universities are happy to offer you a place based on three subjects. What is the difference between CIE and Edexcel GCSEs?

Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) offers GCSEs and A-levels etc while Edexcel is a subsidiary of the publisher Pearson, and offers IGCSEs alongside the full range of UK qualifications. They are both respected bodies with equal value for their qualification in the UK.

Should I study A-levels with CIE or Pearson Edexcel?

If you’re a student living outside of the UK, then you would be better served studying A-levels with CIE or Pearson Edexcel. However, if you would rather sit A-Levels with AQA or OCR, then this is perfectly feasible, but do keep the cost of travelling to the UK in mind.

Are Edexcel A-levels available in the UK?

Although not widely used in UK schools, they are widely available internationally and tend to be the preferred A-level choice for students looking to study A-Levels overseas. Edexcel A-Levels are now more frequently known as Pearson Edexcel A-Levels.
