Does reply all affect BCC?

DANGER: REPLY ALL The first and most visible problem with the blind carbon copy is when someone who was BCC’d hits reply all. Now the people who were on the email (in the TO or CC lines) are alerted to the fact that they were not the only recipients. I’ve seen this backfire more times than I can tell you.

Can BCC contacts see each other?

Do BCC recipients see each other? No, they do not. Recipients that have been BCC’d will be able to read the email, but they won’t be able to see who else received it. Only the sender can see everyone that was BCC’d.

Do BCC receive replies?

Addresses that have been placed in the BCC field are not forwarded. If you have placed a large list of recipients in the To or CC field, all of them will receive the reply. By placing recipients in the BCC field, you can help protect them against receiving unnecessary replies from anyone using the Reply All feature.

Why reply all is bad?

It is a form of communication that invites miscommunication, faux pas, and anxiety, and this all becomes painfully clear when you add the wrong person to a thread or email 8,000 people at once, by mistake. You just have to use email less, and basically never reply all.

How can you see who is blind copied on an email?

To see who you BCC’d in a previous email, just open the Sent mail folder and open the message. You’ll see the BCC field preserved for future reference.

How do you reply to all BCC in an email?

To do so, go to the Sent folder and select the message, then click the dropdown arrow in the bcc: field location. The popout window this provides will include all the addresses in the BCC field. You can copy these and then paste them into a new email to send to them again.

Can you reply all to BCC outlook?

In Outlook, if you are in the BCC field of an email, other receivers cannot see your name when they receive the same email. However, if you apply the Reply All function to reply the message, the reply email will be sent to all recipients and all receivers will see your address.

What does BCC mean in email?

Blind Carbon Copy
For security and privacy reasons, it is best to use the Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) feature when sending an email message to a large number of people. When you place email addresses in the BCC field of a message, those addresses are invisible to the recipients of the email.

Why should I use the BCC field?

‘Blind carbon copy’ is a way of sending emails to multiple people without them knowing who else is receiving the email. Any emails in the BCC field will be invisible to everyone else in the To and CC fields. BCC should only be used when it isn’t a personal email and you want to keep the receipts email private.
