Does sed work with regex?

Regular expressions are used by several different Unix commands, including ed, sed, awk, grep, and to a more limited extent, vi.

Substitution for this case is an expensive operation as compared to just printing it out, especially when you are working with big files. Its easier to read too as its not regex. sed doesn’t support , nor other escape sequences like for that matter.
