What will stings role be in AEW?

In AEW, Sting has played more of a secondary role, backing up Darby Allin. While still being an integral part of the program, Sting no longer faces the pressure of being the biggest star in the promotion like he did in TNA. In AEW, stars like Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, and Jon Moxley are there to carry the load.

WWE’s use of the Sting character grew less, and ultimately his contract expired. He signed with AEW in 2020, and returned to the ring following a near career-ending injury suffered whilst in WWE facing Seth Rollins.

After WWE bought WCW, ‘The Franchise’ did not sign with Vince McMahon ‘s company. He wrestled two tours for World Wrestling All-Stars before making his TNA debut in 2003. Throughout 2003 and 2004, Sting made sporadic appearances for the company.

What happened to specialsting from WWE?

Sting left WWE last year after his contract with the company expired. His deal with the company reportedly expired in May, and a few months later, his merchandise was removed from the WWE store. He debuted in AEW in December 2020 and is currently on a multi-year contract with the company.

Why did Sting leave TNA in 2014?

The real reason for Sting’s departure from TNA was unknown. Kurt Angle, in an appearance on JR’s Ross Report Podcast, in 2014 had revealed Sting did not re-sign with TNA because he wasn’t happy with the offer they put on the table. Sting made his WWE debut attacking Triple H at Survivor Series 2014.
