Do you choose your job at MEPS?

Are you required to pick a job the same day you process at MEPS? Well that depends on if you actually want to join the Navy or not. The truth is that you are not required to contract into any job the classifier offers you.

They participate in Navy ceremonies and take part in replenishment of supplies from ship to ship while at sea.

Why can’t you re-enlist in the military after leaving prior service?

It is because a “prior service” enlistment slot is the same as a “re-enlistment” slot. Given the choice, the military will allow someone currently in the service to re-enlist before they allow a prior-service applicant to re-join. The Air Force is the hardest active duty service for prior service to enlist, and the Army is the easiest.
