Has anyone ever died during basic training?

Twenty soldiers died in on-duty training accidents in fiscal 2021, which ended Sept. 30, according to the initial report from the center, which is based at Fort Rucker, Ala. It was the Army’s lowest number of fatal training accidents for the second year in a row. Last year, 24 soldiers died in training accidents.
