How accurate is the film Twister?

Twister is a fictional disaster movie that turned into a beloved classic and even though there’s science embedded in the plot, it’s not all factual. Twister is one of the best weather-centric movies ever created but it shouldn’t be viewed as pure science.

Did Twister film real tornadoes?

It certainly seemed like Hollywood science fiction at the time, but the movie was actually based on the work of scientists at NOAA’s National Severe Storms Laboratory. Though the cast didn’t see any tornadoes that day, VORTEX scientists took measurements of this one that occurred June 2, 1995, south of Dimmitt, Texas.
