How can the particle theory explain density?

We can use the particle theory to help explain density, since density depends on two things—the mass of the particles and how tightly those particles are “packed” (Figure 1). Since particles of solids are usually closer together than the particles of a liquid, solids are often denser than liquids.

Why do metals have high density?

Metals have high density because atoms are closely packed with each other. So, Mass increases in lesser Volume thus increase in density. Metals have the ions (cations- +ve charge and electrons -ve charge) packed closely by forces of attraction. Thus the high density.
