How do football trials work?

Football trials used to be the way that clubs and teams found their talent. Now, many football trials are run by talent agencies who have contacts with prominent teams and clubs. If they see a talented player at their trials, then they pass the player on.

Depending on the level you feel you have the ability to play, there are a number of ways to get a trial with a football club but it is not always easy. The key is to play in games that are being watched by scouts or people associated with football clubs such as coaches or officials.

How long do football trials last?

The majority of professional trials take place over a 6 week period, in which the player will attend training and play in matches. During this 6 week period the coaches will assess the player on the four main areas of football development.

Yes, you can go pro if you play a lower level then D1, I played D2, but typically it will be easier to get scouted at the D1 level versus a D2 or D3 level. 4. Attend a paid pro try out or combine. If you don’t get scouted and signed after college in the MLS draft to play pro soccer then you still have options.

What should I eat before a football trial?

However, active or elite players should eat foods rich in carbohydrates in the build up to your match day. During the 6 hours leading up to your match you should aim to consume: 1-4grams of Carbohydrates per Kg of your body weight.
