How do I enable modifications in TWRP?

You simply swipe the bar to allow TWRP to make modifications to your /system partition. Swiping on this particular screen, you are giving TWRP permission to mount your /system partition as R/W (Read & Write) as opposed to the default of /system being mounted as R/O (Read Only).

How do I get out of TWRP mode?

To get out of TWRP and back into Android, start by tapping the Reboot option from the home screen. On the next menu, simply tap System to boot back into Android.
