How do I get sound from my projector to my soundbar?

How to Connect a Soundbar to a Projector With Optical or SPDIF

  1. Turn off both devices.
  2. Plug one end of your TOSLINK or RCA SPDIF cable into the corresponding output on your projector.
  3. Plug the other end of the cable into a compatible input on your soundbar.
  4. Connect your input device or devices to your projector.

Is aux or Optical better?

In terms of audio quality, aux is more open to line loss and interference. Higher quality aux cables can also help as they’re better shielded. Optical isn’t foolproof either. Though not prone to interference in the way that aux is, digital can ‘lose’ data, especially over longer cable runs.

Do projectors have optical audio out?

The projector has a standard 3.5 headphone jack out which is an analog (lower quality signal). There is no reason to run audio through the projector. You want to run an optical cable from your cable box, xbox, playstation, or whatever directly into the sound bar.
