How do I prepare for a 200km bike ride?

Plan a rest stop approximately for every 1.5 hours of riding, with minimum of 10 minutes of rest time per stop. Add one big rest stop of 20 minutes for lunch and stretching in the middle of the ride. Add up the total time of riding the route, rests, and lunch.

How do I train for 200km?

Training for long distance rides (> 200km)

  1. have a diet, eat max 2200kcal a day.
  2. do gym trainings 3x a week (12-10-8 reps for all body parts per session)
  3. do spinning classes 2x a week (1,5h now, and increasing)

How do I train for a 300km ride?

Here are a number of things to think about:

  1. Plan your training by time not distance.
  2. Train up to 2/3 to 3/4of big ride, i.e. 6:00 – 7:30 hours for the 200K and 9:00 to 10:00 hours for the 300K.

I do short rides of 40 to 50 km every alternate day and on the weekend I do around 100 km.

BRM’s are endurance rides and demand that you are physically well prepared for cycling for more than 10-12 hours at a stretch. Speed requirements to cover the distance within the time limits are not a lot and a leisure ride speed should get you across. However, you should check the probable routes and plan accordingly.

BRMs worldwide are approved and governed by Audax Club Parisien (ACP). The body that has the sole authority for conducting and overseeing all Randonneuring and Audax events in India is Audax India Randonneurs (AIR). BRM’s are not races, however, they are time controlled.

How do I participate in a brevet event?

To participate in a brevet a rider must complete a registration form and pay a registration fee set by the event organizer. In some countries, a waiver of liability must be sign. Each rider must be covered by liability insurance, either by a group policy or by a personal policy.
