Before starting basic training, you should be able to:

  1. run five kilometres.
  2. run 2.4 kilometres within an appropriate time (see chart )
  3. complete push-ups with a full range of motion and sit-ups.
  4. complete a hand-grip test.
  5. tread water for at least two minutes and swim 20 metres without a life jacket.
