How do I unlock BitLocker if I forgot my password and recovery key?

If you forget your password, look for the recovery key ID in the BitLocker Encryption Options Control Panel application. Select Unlock Drive and then click I cannot remember my password. The BitLocker Encryption Options application will then display a recovery key ID that you provide to Help Desk.

What if I lost BitLocker recovery key?

If you lost Bitlocker recovery key, there is no way to recover it. Unless you have a backup of it somewhere, for example in Active Directory (if you have setup it). Press the Windows key + X to open the Power User menu. Select “Command Prompt (Admin)“.

    How do I Turn Off BitLocker?

    Run Windows File Explorer and right-click on the drive you want to decrypt. In the resulting context menu, click on Manage BitLocker. In the resulting dialog, click on Turn off BitLocker. Click on the Turn off BitLocker button in the subsequent confirmation message box. The system goes to work decrypting your drive.
