How do you calculate steel for a building?

Longitudinal steels

  1. Compute total length of longitudinal bars which equal to the column height plus laps for footing multiply number of longitudinal bars.
  2. Convert that length into kilograms or Tons. This can be done by multiplying cross section area of steel by its total length by density of steel which 7850 kg/m3

How do you calculate the number of steel?

The quantity is done in two steps.

  1. (Calculation of Bars No’s) First, calculate the number of bars required (main and distribution both). FORMULA = (Total length – Clear cover)/center to center spacing + 1. Main bar = (5000 – (25+25))/100 + 1.
  2. (Cutting length) MAIN BAR: FORMULA = (L) + (2 x Ld) + (1 x 0.42D) – (2 x 1d)

How do you calculate steel for a wall?

Steel Quantity Calculation (Cutting length) main bar: formula = (l) + (2 x ld) + (1 x 0.42d) – (2 x 1d), where l = clear span of the slab, ld = development length which is 40 d (where d is diameter of bar), 0.42d = inclined length (bend length), 1d = 45° bends (d is diameter of bar) first calculate the length of “d“.

How much steel is used in a building?

Steel required for 400 square feet house:- it’s depend on type of structure, framing of building, load condition and support condition, using Thumb Rule, generally approx 1400 – 1600 kg or 1.4 – 1.6 MT of Steel are required for 400 square feet residential house, if it is for commercial building, then it will require …

How many kg of steel is required in 1m3 of concrete?

Minimum quantity of steel required for 1m3 concrete slab is 1\%, now 1\% of 1m3 = 0.01 m3, and we know that 1m3 steel weight is 7850 Kg, so weight of 0.01m3 steel = 0.01 × 7850 = 78.50 kg, so minimum quantity of steel required for 1m3 concrete slab is 78.50 Kg.

How is steel reinforcement calculated?

Method-2 : Reinforcement Estimation (Accurate Method):

  1. Calculation:
  2. Bar 1:
  3. Cutting Length = 4380 mm.
  4. Bar 2:
  5. Cutting Length = (2×200) + (4380) – (2 x 20 x 2) = 4700 mm.
  6. Bar 3:
  7. Cutting Length:
  8. No. of Stirrups: (4000/180) + 1 = 23.22 = 24.

How do you calculate the amount of steel in a column?

Achieve column size and reinforcement detailing from design drawings. Then, compute quantity of steel in the column using the following steps: Compute total length of longitudinal bars which equal to the column height plus laps for footing multiply number of longitudinal bars. Convert that length into kilograms or Tons.

How to calculate steel for footing?

Calculate Steel for Footing 1 After that, compute the total length of bars which is equal to the number of required bars multiply by the length of one… 2 Convert that length into kilograms or Tons. This can be done by multiplying cross section area of steel by its total… More

What is the importance of Design design drawings in steel quantity computation?

Design drawings are used as a base for computing rebar quantity in different structural elements. This article presents steel quantity computation process for slabs, columns, and footings.

How to compute number of steel bars in a slab?

Compute number of steel bars. Main Steel Bars No. of bars= (Slab length (L)/spacing)+1 Equation 1 Shrinkage and Temperature Steel Bars No. of bars= (Slab length (S)/spacing)+1 Equation 2 In equation 1, center to center spacing of main reinforcement steel bars are used and shrinkage and temperature bar spacing is used in equation 2.
