How do you get depth in BFS?

With that all in mind, I propose the following algorithm to identify the depth of any given node in a binary tree during breadth first traversal:

  1. Each time a node is visited, increment visited by 1.
  2. Each time visited is incremented, calculate the node’s depth as depth = round_up(log2(visited + 1))

Can BFS be used in trees?

The BFS can be used to determine the level of each node from a given source node. Algorithm: Create the tree, a queue to store the nodes and insert the root or starting node in the queue. Create an extra array level of size v (number of vertices) and create a visited array.

What data structure is used for depth first traversal of a graph Mcq?

Depth First Search (DFS) uses Stack data structure.

What is depth of a node?

The depth of a node is the number of edges present in path from the root node of a tree to that node. The height of a node is the number of edges present in the longest path connecting that node to a leaf node.

Is BFS or DFS recursive?

The breadth-first search algorithm is a non-recursive algorithm used to search or traverse trees or graph a data structure.

Which of the following data structure is used in depth first search of graph?

Explanation: The Depth First Search is implemented using recursion. So, stack can be used as data structure to implement depth first search.

Which of the following is useful in traversing a given graph by depth first search?

Which of the following data structure is useful in traversing a given graph by breadth first search? Explanation: BFS performs level-order traversal which can be fairly done using a queue. A queue uses FIFO ordering and the nodes that we enqueue first are explored first maintaining the order of traversal.

What is DFS traversal of a graph vs tree?

DFS (Depth-first search) is technique used for traversing tree or graph. Here backtracking is used for traversal. In this traversal first the deepest node is visited and then backtracks to it’s parent node if no sibling of that node exist. DFS Traversal of a Graph vs Tree

What is breadth first traversal in DFS?

Please see this post for Breadth First Traversal. DFS (Depth-first search) is technique used for traversing tree or graph. Here backtracking is used for traversal. In this traversal first the deepest node is visited and then backtracks to it’s parent node if no sibling of that node exist. In graph, there might be cycles and dis-connectivity.

What is depth first search DFS in Python?

Depth-first search DFS (Depth-first search) is technique used for traversing tree or graph. Here backtracking is used for traversal. In this traversal first the deepest node is visited and then backtracks to it’s parent node if no sibling of that node exist.

What is the use of stack in DFS algorithm?

They can also be used to find out whether a node is reachable from a given node or not. The aim of DFS algorithm is to traverse the graph in such a way that it tries to go far from the root node. Stack is used in the implementation of the depth first search.
