How does banning heroes work in Dota 2?

Here’s a straightforward explanation of how hero bans work in Dota 2. In ranked all pick, each player gets a chance to nominate one hero for a ban. Heroes cannot be nominated more than once. After the nominated bans, the Dota 2 system bans additional heroes until 16 total picks are banned.

How pick and bans work?

Every week, each team can select one champion per player they own to accumulate double the points. The strategy is to outsmart your opponent by choosing the right champions to pick for your players, and banning the right ones for your opponent.
