How does base current affect collector current?

Hello, an increase in base current means more bias to the transistor which further means collector current will also increase but till the limiting value of the transistor parameters. A transistor is made up of two PN junctions, an emitter junction and a collector junction.

How collector current depends on collector voltage?

In the active region, the collector current is essentially independent of collector voltage and depends only upon the emitter current. If the collector voltage is increased, then space charge width increases; this decreased the effective base width. Then there is less chance for recombination within the base region.

What is collector current in BJT?

Collector Current IC is composed of electrons that diffuse from the emitter across the forward biased base-emitter junction, which then continue to diffuse across the base region. Emitter Current IE is the sum of the collector and base currents.

Why does the collector current of a BJT in the active region increases with increasing collector voltage for a given base current?

Why does the collector current of a BJT in the active region increases with increasing collector voltage for a given base current. Answer:In the active region as the VCE voltage is increased the depletion layer width at the CB junction increases and the effective base width reduces.

Does collector current depend on collector resistance?

Current of collector load resistor is determined by the supply voltage and the value of this resistance (Ohm´s law). An increase in base current means more bias to the transistor which further means collector current will also increase but till the limiting value of the transistor parameters.

What effect does increasing collector voltage have on collector current?

It is an exponential relationship that is described by the Ebers-Moll equations. An increase in this voltage results in increased currents in both the base and the collector, and indeed, an increase in base current causes an increase in B-E voltage.

What is the collector current If base is open?

0 Amps
If the base resistance is open, there is no path to flow the current from the source to the base of the transistor. Hence, the base current is 0 Amps.

Does base current control collector current?

One of the most important properties of the Bipolar Junction Transistor is that a small base current can control a much larger collector current.

When collector increases what happens to current gain?

Why does collector current increase with base current in BJT?

Why does collector current increase with base current in BJT? The base current in the BJT is due to the recombination of holes and electrons. To neutralize the p region an electron leaves the p region.

How does a BJT circuit work?

Fundamentally the operation of the BJT involves injection of minority carriers from base to emitter (this is the base current) and diffusion of majority carriers (emitter current) from emitter to base. These then drift across the reverse biased collector junction to make up the collector current.

When does a BJT operate in the saturation region?

The BJT operates in the saturation region when its collector current is not dependent on the base current and has reached a maximum. The condition for this to happen is that both the base-emitter and the base-collector junctions should be forward-biased.

What is the relationship between collector current and saturation current?

As the base current increases the collector increases proprtionally till the operating point reaches the boundary between the active region and the saturation region. At this point the collector current will be equal to collector saturation current.
