How does IB compare to A levels?

In a nutshell: A level is three subjects studied in depth, IB is six. A levels are graded by letters, with A* being the top grade, while IB uses a points system (the perfect score is 45 points), where 24 points and above secures an IB Diploma. The Diploma is, effectively, a worldwide qualification.

Is IB maths harder than A-level?

Thanks Bondgirl, His Maths teacher has now confirmed that the IB higher Maths is harder than A level Maths. I didn’t expect an answer at the weekend, though! So, in theory, universities should adjust their requirements accordingly.

Are International A Levels easier?

However, considering the questions themselves, there is no difference in difficulty. Also, don’t forget that grade boundaries are affected by difficulty so if an international paper is made more difficult than a UK paper or vice versa then the grade boundary for the difficult paper is lowered.

What is the difference between AP and IB higher level?

AP courses are offered at a single level, though there are certain subjects, such as calculus and physics, that have different course options. IB higher level is, at some high schools, considered harder than AP. Most colleges give credit for AP exams and higher-level IB exams, but not all give credit for standard-level IB exams.

Is the AP Diploma better than the A levels?

None of them, A levels, AP, or the IB Diploma, are better than the other. They are all perfectly fine for university and well worth it in the most objective way. You will learn a lot whichever one you pick. This is an IB focused website so I’ll just give a tip to those leaning towards IB.
