How does KPMG conduct background verification?
KPMG accessed company registries and other regulatory databases to ascertain authenticity of the declared previous employer entity. We checked accreditation and registration status of the educational institutes to identify suspicious/ fake institutes.
No employer can share an employee’s background check information with a third party unless it has written consent from that employee. Generally, the most crucial component of background checks for employers is compliance. FCRA rules are concrete and need to be respected and followed to the letter.
How long does KPMG background check take?

What is included in a background check with KPMG?

Does KPMG care about your previous employer?
KPMG seems to find that and care even if it was McDonalds or something. Prior employer information might come over on the credit check, or some service like The Work Number. What level are you?
Does KPMG ever do a voe?
How easy would it be for some jerk to reply to your question here and tell you that no way, KPMG doesn’t ever do a VOE (that means verification of employment). Why leave something so important up to someone you will never meet and don’t know.
How important is the background verification process?
Background verification was extremely important in their case (FINRA regulated) and hiring was contingent upon passing a number of checks (credit, criminal history, education, employment and the list goes on). I first had to authorize/grant permission for them to run a full background check and had to provide some personal info such as my SSN.
