How is AMC 10 scored?

The AMC 10 and AMC 12 each have 25 questions. Each correct answer is worth 6 points (for a maximum score of 150) and each unanswered question is worth 1.5 points. There is no deduction for wrong answers. Note that you don’t need to get all of the questions right to get a qualifying score.

Can you take AMC 10 in 11th grade?

A. Yes, as long as a student is eligible to take the appropriate competitions. That is, a 10th grader or below can take the both AMC 10 A and the AMC 10 B, the AMC 12 A and the AMC 12 B, etc, and an 11th or 12th grader can take the AMC 12 A and the AMC 12 B.

How many people take AMC 10 each year?

There are other AMC contests and we will also present a little data from two of these. The AMC 10 is a contest similar to the AMC 12 open to students in grades 10 and below. It is given in most of the same schools (at the same times) and is also taken by approximately 100,000 students per year.

What is the difference between AMC 10 and 12?

The AMC 10 is for students in 10th grade and below, and covers the high school curriculum up to 10th grade. Students in grade 10 or below and under 17.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 10. Students in grade 12 or below and under 19.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 12.

What percentage of AMC 10 students are invited to the AIME?

For students taking the 2012 AMC 10 contests, we will invite students in the top 2.5\% of all scorers or scorers with at least 120 points (whichever is more inclusive) to the AIME. This differs from the values of 1\% (or 120 points) which have been in effect since 2004.

How do I qualify for the AIME?

All students who took the AMC 12 and achieved a score of 100 or more out of a possible 150 or were in the top 5\% are invited to take the AIME. All students who took the AMC 10 and had a score of 120 or more out of a possible 150, or were in the top 2.5\% also qualify for the AIME.

What grade do you have to be to take AMC 10?

Students in grade 10 or below and under 17.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 10. The AMC 12 covers the entire high school curriculum including trigonometry, advanced algebra, and advanced geometry, but excluding calculus.

Is the Aime more difficult than the AMC?

The questions on the AIME are much more difficult than those on the AMC 10 and AMC 12. Top scoring participants on the AIME are invited to take the USAMO or USAJMO. AIME I (main AIME competition date): Tuesday, February 8, 2022 between 1:30 pm ET and 5:30 pm ET.
