  1. Double-click on XYData on left.
  2. Select ODB field output.
  3. Select required stress measurement variable and select measurement location (unique nodal, element, etc.)
  4. Select the desired nodes or elements from the field data (viewport) by clicking the Element/Nodes tab.
  5. Save the Data.

What is s11 in Abaqus?

In the STRAUS output, s11 is the largest value of stress in the algebraic sense and the principal stress S33 is the smallest value of stress. This means that the third component of principal stress (S33) is zero and hence the maximum compressive principal stress is S22.

What is Mises stress in Abaqus?

Von Mises stress is a value used to determine if a given material will yield or fracture. It is mostly used for ductile materials, such as metals.

How do you calculate maximum principal stress in Abaqus?

In Abaqus, you can check the maximum principal stress from Result>Field Output. Then from Invariant option list, select Max. Principal, and click Apply. The other alternative is, as mentioned by Abubakar Gambo Mohammed , to check the result by opening the result tab > Field output, and so on.

What does S12 mean in Abaqus?

shear stress
S12 is the shear stress where as S11 22 are principal plane stresses.

What is the maximum principal stress?

According to the theory of maximum principal stress, “The failure of a material or component will occur when the maximum value of principle stress developed in the body exceeds the limiting value of stress”. If maximum value of principal stress developed in the body exceeds the point D, failure will take place.

What is max principal stress?

What are principal stresses?

• Principal stresses are those stresses which are acting on the. principal planes. • The plane carrying the maximum normal stress is called the. major principal plane and the stress acting on it is called major. principal stress.

What is PEEQ in Abaqus?

PEEQ is the ABAQUS parameter name for the equivalent plastic strain. Essentially it’s a scalar measure of all the components of equivalent plastic strain at each position in the model, somewhat like Von Mises stress is a scalar measure of the shear stress at a point.

What is von Mises equivalent stress?

The Von Mises criteria is a formula for combining the three principal stresses into an equivalent stress, and the equivalent stress is then compared to the yield stress of the material to judge the failure condition of the material. The equivalent stress is often called the Von Mises Stress, as a shorthand description.

How do you calculate maximum stress?

Divide the the applied load by the cross-sectional area to calculate the maximum tensile stress. For example, a member with a cross-sectional area of 2 in sq and an applied load of 1000 pounds has a maximum tensile stress of 500 pounds per square inch (psi).

Does Abaqus/CAE apply the averaging threshold?

Abaqus/CAE does not apply the averaging threshold; tensors are transformed to an average orientation at each node prior to averaging; and result regions, if used, must contain compatible elements. For more information, see Understanding how results are computed.

What are the different stress components used by Abaqus/viewer?

For example, the S11, S22, S33, S12, S23 and S31 stress components are used by Abaqus/Viewer to determine the Mises stress. Averaging computation converts 2 or more values from the different extrapolated nodal results into a single nodal result.

How do I control how Abaqus/CAE averages nodal results?

To control whether Abaqus/CAE averages nodal results based on all contributing elements or based only on the elements in the current display group, toggle Average only displayed elements. Choose whether Abaqus will compute invariants (scalars) and extract components before or after averaging results over the specified regions.

What are result regions in Abaqus/CAE?

Abaqus/CAE averages values at nodes common to two or more elements when the contributing elements lie in the same result region. The default result regions are the same regions defined when you assign sections to your model; you can also define custom result regions using saved element sets or display groups.
