IB Diploma Programme Requirements To participate as a diploma candidate the IB student must fulfill the following requirements starting in the 11th grade: Enroll in six IB subjects over 2 years. (Subjects are divided into “Groups” and students must take an exam in each of the subject groups – see “Subjects” tab).

Can I take IB classes without taking the full IB curriculum?

At some schools, students are allowed to take a couple of IB classes without being enrolled in the full IB curriculum. Ask your local IB school’s IB coordinator whether this is permitted; you can find their contact information in our complete list of IB schools in the United States.

What is the age range for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program?

This two-year series of courses, projects, and other requirements is intended for students between the ages of 16 and 19. The full IBDP concludes with a special diploma, but depending on your high school, you may be able to take a few IB courses a la carte without committing to the diploma program.
