Is 4K and Blu-Ray same?

4K Blu-ray These are standard Blu-ray discs that have been scaled down from a 4K picture. They offer a wider range of color, but it is not the same as a 4k Ultra HD Image. A 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc has a much higher capacity than a standard Blu-ray disc which allows it to store a movie with Ultra HD resolution.

Will a 4K disc play on Blu-Ray?

No, 4K Bluray is not forwards compatible, primarily because 4K disc image files are encoded with HEVC not the MPEG 4 AVC of standard BluRay. You will need to buy a 4K BluRay player. Fortunately 4K BluRay players are backwards compatible with your legacy standard HD BluRay and even SD DVD discs.

A: No, because it is backward compatible, that is, the 4K Blu-ray player can play normal Blu-ray discs, but ordinary Blu-ray disc players cannot play 4K UHD Blu-ray discs by upgrading firmware. Base on this, if you want to watch 4K Blu-ray disc on TV, you will need a 4K Blu-ray Player, a 4K Television, at least HDMI 2.0 transmission interface.
