Is AAC 320 kbps good?

AAC is a better codec, and can also either do a better job at the same bit rate, or an equivalent job at a lower bit rate. So the OPs question, which is better, MP3 at 320 or AAC at 256, is still an open question. 320 is absolutely not ALWAYS better.

Is 256 kbps music good?

The happy medium between small file sizes and true CD quality audio is a 256kbps bit rate. This offers vastly superior sound quality over 128kbps, without eating up too much disk space.

What is AAC audio quality?

Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) is an audio coding standard for lossy digital audio compression. AAC supports inclusion of 48 full-bandwidth (up to 96 kHz) audio channels in one stream plus 16 low frequency effects (LFE, limited to 120 Hz) channels, up to 16 “coupling” or dialog channels, and up to 16 data streams.

What is the difference between AAC and 320 kbps MP3?

320 kbps MP3 will probably be compatible with more devices and software than AAC, so that could be a benefit. Your reply is misleading. The difference between codecs is mostly demonstrated at lower bitrates, which, at their inception, was the target audience for audio codecs.

What’s the difference between AAC 256 and lossless?

Lossless is ideal and given a choice between AAC 256 and mp3 320, I’d take AAC 256 as I can tell on some files a difference. Some files you wont hear much difference do to their range or the quality of the original. All my CDs are converted to Lossless.

Is 256kbps audio better than 320kbps?

AAC at 256kpbs should sound better than MP3 at 320kbps. See my 2008 article on lossy codecs at www.stereophile.com/features/308mp3cd/index.html .

What is the difference between MPEG-4 and AAC?

The critical variable here is that MPEG-4 is a better codec; it can either do a better job at the same bit rate, or an equivalent job at a lower bit rate. Its the same with AAC vs. MP3. AAC is a better codec, and can also either do a better job at the same bit rate, or an equivalent job at a lower bit rate.
