I really liked AoEIII (especially in multiplayer), it had a bunch of mechanics and changes to the way it worked that made it more enjoyable and varied than AoEII was. AoEII has a more interesting setting and time period though.

Why can’t you build castles in AOE 3?

And stone does not exist anymore. Also you cannot build dozens of “castles” (fortresses in AoE 3), because the only way to get them is with a deck card and you can have max 2-3 fortresses I think. Plus the graphics are way better than AoE 2.
