Is AMD quad-core better than i3?

The short answer is, yes a quad-core processor is better than an i3 but I will throw in the caveat that it depends on why you’re asking. An i3 is a dual-core processor. Based on the math, a quad-core is definitely going to be faster in applications that make use of four cores.
