Competition Format The Nitto ATP Finals is structured as a round-robin format, with eight singles players/doubles teams divided into two groups of four. All singles matches are the best of three tie-break sets.

Why does women’s tennis only have 3 sets?

Originally it was for a sexist reason! It was simply assumed ladiee were weaker than men and hence needed to play shorter matches. Nowadays, it is strictly for commercial reasons! No TV network would pay to broadcast a first round 5 set ladies match!
