M40X have pretty good sound, but they are not really comfortable if you want to wear them for a long time, like more than 8 hours. I’d rather recommend you to buy Sony MDR V6 instead. Sound is very similar, but much more comfortable. I think M40X is more neutral headphones, it has decent bass, mid, and high.
