Is CAG part of parliament?

The salary and other conditions of service of the CAG are determined by the Parliament of India through “The Comptroller and Auditor-General (Duties, Powers and Conditions of Service) Act, 1971”. His salary is same as that of judge of the Supreme court of India.

Can CAG vote in parliament?

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India can not attend the sittings of Parliament. The power of the CAG is not co-extensive with the powers of the Union Government.

Why is CAG needed?

Section 148 of the Constitution says there “shall be” a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. Section 149 adds CAG shall perform such duties and exercise such powers about accounts of Union and States, as were exercised by Auditor General before the Constitution entered into force.

What are the roles of CAG in Tanzania?

The laws gave mandate to the CAG to examine, inquire into and audit the accounts of all accounting officers and receivers of revenue on behalf of the National Assembly. In exercising this mandate, the CAG has powers to call upon any officer for any explanation and information.
