Is Gripen a good fighter?

With respect to lethality, the Gripen was the first fighter in the world to carry the deadly Meteor air-to-air missile, a beyond visual range (BVR) weapon that can track and kill targets at a range of up to 80 miles. The Gripen does well on lists of both BVR and dogfighting combatants.

Gripen competed against the new F-16 Block 70/72, the F-16 Barak from Israel, the Greek F-16, and the Korean FA-50.

F-16I Sufa is equipped with 50\% of Israeli-made avionics, capable of deploying Python 5 air-to-air missiles. Isarael’s fighter jets use AN / APG-68 (V) 9 radar, adding two more CFT aerodynamic fuel tanks to increase range. This is considered a worthy opponent of Russia’s MiG-29SMT over Syria.
