Is Informed Delivery safe to use?

Security and fraud experts warn postal customers their mail could be at risk. According to the USPS, “postal service customer identities are not compromised by using the Informed Delivery feature.”

Is Informed Delivery USPS safe?

“Informed Delivery is in full compliance with federal privacy laws. The mail is protected by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, whose sole mandate is to safeguard the entire Postal Service system, including the employees who deliver and process the mail and millions of customers who use it.”

What is wrong with Informed Delivery?

One of the most common informed delivery problems is that no image of the mail piece can be seen on your account. USPS Informed Delivery simply doesn’t offer the image service for large mail pieces at this time (unfortunate, but true). Although, it’s not all bad!

Is USPS Informed Delivery ever wrong?

Very accurate. If something isn’t machine-readable, the daily digest email generally lets you know. If a mailpiece is being sent as a circular or via Every Door Direct Mail, Informed Delivery won’t scan it (which is fine, since it’s essentially junk mail).

Does Informed Delivery slow mail down?

Informed Delivery® provides notifications for mailpieces arriving soon – not necessarily mailpieces arriving that same day. Pieces can be delayed in getting to your mail carrier. Or, unfortunately, a mailpiece could be misdelivered. We ask that you allow several days for delivery after receiving the notification.
