Competition for places at all Oxford colleges is very strong. None of them is easy to get in to. Open applicants are allocated to colleges which have fewer applications in that year.

For equally well-qualified students, making an open application or specifying a preference College makes no difference to their chances of being made an offer.

There are 45 colleges under the University of Oxford. Out of these, Somerville College has the highest rate of acceptance at 27\%. It also receives a very low amount of applicants. Somerville receives the second lowest number of applicants after St Hilda’s.
