Is it possible to change AMD processor to Intel in laptop?

The AMD A4 is an AMD CPU and Intel i7 is an Intel CPU, so they neither use the same socket nor the same chipset. They are both physically and electronically incompatible. So, you may not be able to replace the AMD processor with an Intel processor.

Can you swap from AMD to Intel?

If you are going to make the switch from AMD to Intel, there are a few things that you need to know before changing your motherboard. This is a step that many people will inevitably take, as changing and switching motherboards is one of the most common ways to upgrade a computer build.

Yes, you can! But first you need to change the motherboard. AMD and Intel have different sockets (places where you plug the chip). Please note, variety of chips require variety of motherboards. So, if you decide to change the CPU, then you have to be sure that the motherboard socket is the same as the chip.

As you will need to change the motherboard along with the processor. Every chip has a different socket. So the motherboards themselves are designed with different sockets. That means for an intel processor you will need a motherboard made with an intel socket.

To switch from AMD to an Intel MotherBoard (MB) you also need to swap the CPU and check compatibility of the GPU on the new MB. Once you’ve checked the compatibility and dimensions of the new MB it should fit into the laptop body. You can’t use an AMD CPU on the Intel MB and vice-versa.
