Is it rude to put your napkin on your plate?
I don’t think a napkin should ever be placed over a plate. M.W., Washington, D.C. Dear M.W.: If you had asked me this question a year ago, I would have given you a very clear and definitive no. I did not — and do not — think it is okay to put your napkin over your plate once you have finished eating.
Why is it polite to put your napkin on your lap?
