In Norse mythology, Ymir (/ˈiːmɪər/, Old Norse: [ˈymez̠]), also called Aurgelmir, Brimir, or Bláinn, is the ancestor of all jötnar. The Prose Edda also states that three gods killed Ymir; the brothers Odin, Vili and Vé, and details that, upon Ymir’s death, his blood caused an immense flood.

In the first of which that refers to Ymir, Odin asks from where first came the Earth and the sky.
