Is qualifying for USAMO hard?

The AIME is a highly difficult 15-question exam in which testers have 3 hours to complete. Typically, an index of 210 or higher is necessary to qualify, which combines your AMC Score + 10*AIME score. So if you have a 120 on the AMC and 10 on the AIME, that is enough to qualify for the USAMO.

How do you qualify for USAJMO?

Students taking the AMC 12 A, or AMC 12 B plus the AIME II need a USAMO index of 229.0 or higher to qualify for the USAMO. Students taking the AMC 10 A, or AMC 10 B plus the AIME I need a JMO index of 213.0 or higher to qualify for the JMO.

The top approximately 200 indices from the AMC 12 are chosen to take the United States Math Olympiad (USAMO), while approximately 200 are chosen from the AMC 10 to take the United States Junior Math Olympiad (USAJMO). The USAMO is significantly more difficult and harder to qualify than its counterpart.
