Is Rooney knighted?

England striker Wayne Rooney has said he does not want to be dubbed ‘Sir Wayne’ and that footballers should not be given knighthoods by the British royal family. The 24-year-old was quizzed on the subject after appearing in an advert in which he was given a knighthood by the Queen.

Why did Rooney retire so early?
