Is Scotland Yard like the FBI?

The New Scotland Yard building is part of the Parliament complex and functions as the local station (equivalent of precinct) for the officers on duty there. The equivalent of the FBI in terms of National coordination would be the National Crime Agency. But the NCA is a fraction of the size and budget of the FBI.
